How to decorate your home for beginners?
It’s okay to feel like you have to start over because home decor is constantly changing. We all have to start somewhere, whether this is your first time decorating your home or you’re just updating your space. You’re at the right place. You’ll find inspiration, tips, and tricks in our Learning Center for your home decor. No matter how large or small your home is, decorating it can be a difficult task. It can be challenging, but it’s also fun. And if you do it step by step, your room will look great without costing a fortune!
Let’s start with the nine steps for a beginner to begin your decorating project!
Select Your Decor Style
Choose your style of home decor. There are many styles to choose from, such as traditional, modern, farmhouse, minimalistic, contemporary, and rustic…the options are endless! This will be your most challenging decision. Consider your personality and interests. You might prefer a minimalistic style if you like simple lines and are drawn to their simplicity. Choose a Bohemian look if you love bright colors and patterns.
Choose something that makes you happy to see every day. It is your home, so decorate it however you like!
Create a Plan
Next, you will need to make a plan. Do you need to decorate a house from scratch or just a few rooms? Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed. Sit down and make a plan.
Start with your bedroom, as it is the most personal room in your home. Start with your bedroom. It is one of your most unique spaces in the house, and you’ll spend a lot of time there. Consider starting in the living room. This is where you’ll spend most of your time with your family.
Choose a Color Palette
You’ll want to choose a color scheme for your room since you have already decided on your home decor style. Your color scheme should match the style of decor you’re going for. Boho is characterized by jewel tones such as sapphire and ruby. The minimalistic style uses white, black, and neutral colors. Deciding whether you want warm or cool colors in your room is best when creating a color scheme. Warm tones include oranges and yellows, while cool tones lean more toward blues and silvers.
You can use the same color palette or change it by room. You can create the perfect color palette by using the 60-30-10 Rule. We’ll tell you if you have not heard about the 60-30-10 Rule. This home decor classic will help you create the perfect color scheme for your room. It is divided as follows: 60% of the room’s color should be dominant. This includes your walls (an accent wall is an exception) and large decor items such as your couch or rug. The secondary color should make up 30% of the room. The color chosen should be sufficiently different from the dominant color but still complement it. You can use this color in furniture, linens, and curtains. Accent color should cover the last 10% of a room. You can use this color for throw pillows or blankets, framed art, and other small trinkets in your room.
Get Advice from the Experts
It’s always a good idea to give a little advice. You can find a lot of Instagram influencers and home decor bloggers. There’s nothing more motivating than seeing how others decorate their homes.
Choosing the right Instagram profile for your home decor can be difficult. There are many. What is your style? Which ones are budget-friendly? These decor bloggers will answer all your questions!
Have It Flow
This step is also part of choosing an interior design. Having a farmhouse-style living room and a contrasting contemporary-style kitchen is not a good idea. They won’t go together. If that’s your genuine desire, who are we? Let your style of decor flow through your home. It will make more sense!
Start with the larger pieces. This will make it easier to locate all the more minor details. Start with the most significant parts in each space. After you have a sofa for the living room, bed frames for your bedroom, and a table for the dining room, everything else starts to fall into place.
Choose Your Essential Pieces
Decorate your room with large or statement pieces. Before adding other decor pieces, place your bed, sofa, and dining table in the room. You will be able to know precisely where to place each piece as you decorate. Place a plant in the living room’s corner before adding your wall art. This will ensure that it doesn’t interfere with your decor later.
Don’t cut corners on these items; they will be the most noticeable in your room. Research and find the right sofa or dining table for your home. You want to avoid having to replace it every year.
Don’t forget the photos
It’s impossible to create a more personal home than by adding your photos. You’ll find plenty of ideas for framing in our Learning Center. Photos of the family Wedding photos Photos of your pet or your favorite artwork are great options! You’ll smile each time you see the pictures that are important to you. We also make framing easy: upload photos to our website, choose the size that works with your wall, and create your frame!
Frames are a great addition to any space, whether you’re looking to create a large Gallery Wall or add some frames to your Bedside Table.
Don’t forget to add your personal touch
At our Learn Center, we always say one thing: do whatever you feel will look the best in your house. It’s up to you to decide how you want your home to look. You can decorate each room differently or stick to a particular style. We only suggest adding your touch. You wouldn’t want someone else’s house exactly copied (or perhaps you do – as we said, you can do whatever you choose!) Try to give your home a personal touch. You could use photos, like we did, scented candles, family heirlooms, or even your child’s artwork. These things will make your home more personal and unique.
